Three tips for making your VAT return on time
- Enter your e-mail address via the Belastingdienst business portal. Nothing is more annoying than being ready to file your report, and to find out that you have lost your log-in data. If you have provided your e-mail address in advance, the Tax and Customs Administration will send you new log-in details immediately.
- Do your VAT declaration early in the month and plan your payment via online banking at the end of the month. This way you can have your own money for a long time, without the risk of a late payment.
- Put the deadlines of the VAT return in your agenda, including reminders two weeks before the deadlines. Or use the VAT Alert App . You can also enter your e-mail address in the business portal if you want to receive a reminder.
Quarterly returns and payments must be received by 31 October, 31 January, 31 May and 31 July at the latest.
Yet an additional assessment. What now?
For entrepreneurs who have filed or paid their VAT return late, the tax authorities have developed a checklist that allows entrepreneurs to determine what should happen when an additional tax assessment has been received.
